Carissa's Blog

Garage Sale Days

Yesterday and today, we hosted a garage sale in our garage & driveway for the Indonesian kids. We also sold some of Carissa's clothes. Believe me.. she has a gizillion clothes. We were so blessed with good weather after what had happened to Ames on Thursday night.

Mommy got around $60 bucks from the garage sale!! woohooo.. anyway.. it was to hectic for me. I'm not really good with messiness.. so for stupid reason mommy got sick. Today I was sick from early in the morning till late in the afternoon. I felt much better after took some advil. Hopefully I don't get mastitis again... kinda worry.. is it even possible??!!

Anyway, AJ & Ringga came over so Carissa got a chance to play with him :D

Here are the 2 videos that I took:

Reading a Catalog

When I go get the mail, she always wants to help me sorting the mail. Few days back, I got a catalog from build-a-bear workshop. She took the catalog and then she laid down and browse thru the catalog.

Isn't she adorable!!!

Catching up

Okay I'm going to write bunch of posts for Carissa.. since I was so busy and have no time to update her blog.

First of all, I think I'm going to close her blog once she's 1 year old. And then I will make another one for her. Same url but probably start fresh. I need to make this blog into a book for her, or pdf book that she can read it later when she grows up.

Big Day Today - First Steps

This morning, I decided to try and see whether she will walk or not. So I was just playing with her and let her stand up.. and I reached to her and she actually took few steps.. at least 3 or 4..

Here's the video.. so proud of my baby...

And here's my baby playing with baby wipes.. just to let you know.. this baby wipes was on the second steps of the staircase behind the gate. How did she get it open and pull it.. don't ask me.

Some quick updates as Carissa approaches 11 months.
  • She says 'Hello' when the phone rings (very cute voice)
  • Other words she will use sporadically (Dadda, Momma, Yeah)
  • Sign language she uses a lot ("milk", "more")
  • She also can do "ball'" - but ball, more, and clapping are very similar
  • Other gestures - blowing kisses, giving kisses, waving goodbye (kind of), clapping, and vibrating her mouth with her finger while making noices
  • She is very good at throwing balls, putting balls into small holes, and playing hoops (I think it is because we literally have over 250 balls in the house)
  • She has taken several steps on her own - she moves around with ease with her hand held walker - we think she will be walking soon
  • She no longer wants to eat "baby food" - she will spit it out - so we have started giving her more table foods (cooked veggies, pasta, meats, etc....)
Hopefully we will catch some of these moments on video soon - but she always wants to play with the camera instead of performing for it.

Messy Eater

No idea what happened with her today, I tried to feed her breakfast this morning, she spitted the food out and play with it. When we tried to feed her, she always try to grab the spoon. SO.. today we decided to let her eat by herself. Since I always see my friend's blog with her daughter eating with no shirt on.. so I thought.. maybe we just let her topless and let her eat by herself.

Now I always keep in mind that "everything is cleanable" so I just enjoy seeing her making a mess and eat by herself :).

So I cooked some rice and gave her salmon puree and sliced bananas. She actually enjoyed eating by herself. She loves it..

Mommy Sick :(

Yes... mommy got cold :( baby sneezing & coughing too :(

I'm not feeling the best, Carissa still have all the energy tho she's sneezing and coughing. Look what she likes to do these days...

CelebrAsian

We went to the CelebrAsian festival in Des Moines today. The weather was nice - maybe a little windy. We had Thai, Filipino, and Indian food. Carissa had green beans, rice, and crackers. Baby C also was able to see Auntie Ringga, Alexander and Auntie Vone. It was a fun day.

PS: She's wearing dress for the very first time today. I went garage sailing this morning and got bunch of cute clothes for her! I think this one is one of the cutest dress for $1.50! it's Ralph Lauren baby!!! :D So I rushed home, washed all of the clothes that I got for her so she can wore it to the CelebrAsian today :D.

Mary Jane Shoes (again)

After about couple hours trying to make this cute little shoes.. I think I deserve an applause! since it's so ridiculously hard to work on a tiny pair of shoes! I really think $20 for this pair is still too low! :D hahahahaha

The Princess and the (Wasabi) Pea

Princess C woke up last night and was crying. Since Mommy was at work - it was Daddy's duty to go check on her and make sure she was okay. Well I went and took her into our bedroom. We were going to watch TV for a little bit until she fell asleep (or Mommy got home - which ever came first). We were laying on the bed and I grabbed the remote control and changed the channels for about 15 seconds. When I looked at her she had the strangest face - kind of a scared / confused / mad face. It really scared me and her mouth was kind of moving so I swept the inside her mouth and found a dried Wasabi Pea. If you don't know what a Wasabi pea - it is just a dried pea with a Wasabi (similiar to horseradish) coting on it. You see - Mommy and Daddy were eating in bed the other night (big no-no). To make it worst - they were really hot Peas. About three peas is the most you could eat at a time before your nose would burn.

Anyway - she is now an official Andorf and is ready to help Grandpa grind horseradish. A few tears but she proved she is our Andorf Princess.

Kindermusik

Today we went to a free demo music class in Story City. The teacher is one of the member of Cafe Mom Ames group, so she's giving a free demo for the cafe mom's mommies.

It was so fun! Carissa likes to play with the Egg Shaker Rhythm Maker. She loves interact with other kids. I really want to go to the classes this summer, but the schedule is not going to work :(. They only offer either Monday at 9am (which is her morning nap time) or Tuesday at 6:30pm (and her bed time is at 7pm). So yeah :(... Bah! I really like the class.

Today she wore her new polo shirt that I bought for her when we were at Tanger Outlet :D isn't she adorable in green :D

Happy Mother's Day

We had a fun mother's day weekend. Went to Amana, Carissa got a chance to play/swim in kiddie pool while mommy got a chance to shop at the outlet mall nearby. I bought a LOT of stuff! so excited! :D.

We bought a ball pit for Carissa at the KB Toys outlet only for 20 bucks. She loves it! we even stopped by at K-Mart today to get more balls, and we got 100 balls for 15 bucks. :) She loves to play in it.

The only thing that not so good is I think carissa is having some separation anxiety now. Just now I have to sleep next to her and then she will sleep. *sigh* Right now carson is sleeping with her, while I do some work.

Here are some pictures from this weekend.

Daddy's little sweat pea

"Here are sweat peas, on tip-toe for flight
With wings of gentle flusho'er delicate white,
And taper fingers catching at all things
To bind them all about with tiny rings."

Kiddie Pool

I bought a kiddie pool for her from Wal*Mart. She loves splish splash-ed in the pool. It was a little bit chilly & windy, but seems like she didn't mind at all. But we only played for few minutes.

Can't wait till the weather getting more warm, so she can actually enjoy playing in a pool. :)

Happy 10 Months Young

2 more months to her 1 yr old birthday, I still can't believe it! she grows up so fast! It feels like yesterday I held her in my arms.. 1 minute old.. I still remember her face covered with goo :D hehehe.

Now she's 10 months old.. smarter and cuter than ever..

What's new...
1. She eats solid 3 times a day now.
2. She LOVES music
3. She knows how to stand up without holding onto anything
4. She loves playing with balls.. bounce it.. throw it.. anything.
5. She loves doing motor boat sound
6. She has 4 teeth that already above the gums.. and still working on 2 more (1 top and 1 bottom).
7. She can drink from a straw

Anyway, she's getting bigger.. and I don't want her to grow this fast!!! :'( she's my baby!!
